How to use Hash Generator (SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-512, MD5)

  1. 1Type or paste the text you want to hash.
  2. 2Read the MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-384, and SHA-512 values generated from the same input.
  3. 3Copy the hash required by your workflow.

Frequently asked questions

Can a hash be reversed to recover the text?
A cryptographic hash is designed to be one-way. It verifies that inputs match; it is not an encoding that can be decoded.
Which hash should I use?
SHA-256 or SHA-512 are appropriate for modern checksums. MD5 and SHA-1 remain useful for compatibility checks but should not be used where collision resistance is a security requirement.
Why does a tiny text change produce a different hash?
Hash functions are designed so even a one-character change produces a substantially different digest.
