About the test
Words per minute (WPM) is measured as correct characters ÷ 5, scaled to a minute — the standard definition of a “word”. Accuracy is the share of keystrokes typed correctly. The timer starts on your first keystroke and everything runs locally. Practice regularly to build speed without sacrificing accuracy.

Frequently asked questions
- How is WPM calculated?
- Correct characters are divided by five to estimate standard words, then divided by the actual elapsed minutes from the first keystroke.
- How is accuracy calculated?
- Accuracy is correct typed characters divided by all typed characters. A character in the wrong position counts as an error.
- Does correcting a mistake remove it from the result?
- The statistics reflect the current text in the input. If you backspace and type the correct character before the test ends, the replaced position no longer counts as an error.
- Can I supply my own passage?
- No. The current test cycles through its built-in English passages.
